The latest phase of our Digital Growth Voucher scheme has once again proven to be a huge success with over 360 businesses in the Leeds City Region applying for a slice of £1 million of funding for digital transformation projects.
Since the scheme launched in 2016, Digital Enterprise has provided £3.6 million of funding to over 700 businesses so that they can improve their digital capabilities. This investment is set to deliver a boost of £7 million to the regional economy and generate around 1,900 jobs.
The latest phase which was open in October 2018 saw a number of changes to the scheme providing the opportunity for even more businesses to access the funding. For the first time, businesses which had received Digital Growth Voucher funding in a previous phase and had completed their project, and participants in our Digital Knowledge Exchange, were able to apply for between £2,000 and £10,000 of funding, which would cover at least 50% of the cost of their project and in many cases even more.
Digital Enterprise programme manager Muz Mumtaz said: “The sheer popularity of our Digital Growth Voucher scheme shows that businesses are aware that they need to improve their digital capabilities so that they can succeed in a competitive marketplace.
“Over the last two years we have been able to help businesses from across a wide range of industries to fund their digital technology projects so that they could benefit from the advantages it will bring.
“As a result of this investment we have seen businesses become more efficient, improve their productivity and competitiveness, save money, introduce new products and services, and ultimately grow.
“We are hoping that we will be able to help even more business to invest in digital technology in the future by launching another phase of funding in 2019.”
