Have you ever applied for funding which could help you transform your business only to discover you aren’t eligible? Frustrating isn’t it? However, circumstances can change and it doesn’t necessarily mean you will never be able to take advantage of such support.
Here at Digital Enterprise we are keen to assist as many businesses as possible with their digital aspirations and judging by how many registrations we receive – over 3,100 since the second phase of our programme opened in September 2019 – there are a lot of businesses in the Leeds City Region that are keen to access our help.
By far our most popular form of support is our Digital Growth Voucher. Worth between £2,000 and £12,500, the voucher can be used to help cover the cost of investing in digital technology solutions – such as purchasing new hardware and software, developing websites and apps, and introducing new internet telephony to enhance business performance and achieve growth. Typically worth 50% of the cost of a project, this much needed funding can certainly help businesses turn their plans into reality.
However, with any form of funding there are always stipulations… For our Digital Growth Voucher scheme, businesses need to operate predominantly in a business to business (B2B) environment, have at least two employees (and no more than 250 employees) and been trading for at least 12 months.
Whilst we would like to help everyone that applies, not every business meets this criteria (of course we want to help where we can and where possible we will offer an alternative form of support).
However, circumstances do change. You may have originally been ineligible for a Digital Growth Voucher because you did not meet the required level of B2B activity – due to the COVID-19 pandemic we have now reduced the level down from 80% to 50%. Alternatively, since you originally registered your business may have now been trading for over twelve months, or you may have taken on new staff meaning that you have at least two people working for the business.
If you feel that you may now meet the three key criteria for a Digital Growth Voucher and would like to be reconsidered for this funding then let us know by emailing enquiries.DE@leeds.gov.uk – just make sure to let us know how your circumstances have changed. We can then re-assess your registration, re-run our eligibility checks, and let you know if you can now take advantage of a Digital Growth Voucher.
