Date: 23rd February 2018
We have had a very busy but positive start to 2018 so far
Our Digital Growth Advisers have been getting in touch with businesses that applied for a Digital Growth voucher in Phase 2 (which ended in December). Overall we received over 250 applications from firms seeking support – which clearly demonstrates the need for funding from growing businesses in the area. Just over 170 business were deemed eligible for support in Phase 2. Some of the reasons why applicants were not successful include;
• Ineligible Sector – B2C/retail sector (37%)
• Age of the business – under 12 months old (20%)
• Size of firm i.e. under 2 employees (15%)
• Proposals lacking any details about growth or digital transformation (19%)
We will do our best to help and advise small businesses, which are unsuccessful for funding, by referring them on to other schemes, which they may qualify for.
The great news is that we are aiming to launch Phase 3 of the Digital Growth Voucher scheme just after Easter. We are still finalising details about this Phase and are considering offering higher value vouchers for eligible and qualifying businesses. We hope to provide you with more details in mid-March.
Also, we still have a few Connectivity Vouchers available – so if you are a small business looking to improve your digital connection, we may be able to offer a voucher worth £1000 to help you upgrade – check out our Connectivity Voucher page – https://www.digitalenterprise.co.uk/voucher-scheme/connectivity-vouchers/ which has a short video which explains the scheme and how to apply. We’ve also relaxed the rules on this, so if you have already received help from us with a Digital Growth Voucher or have enrolled on to our Digital Knowledge Exchange scheme, you can still apply for a Connectivity Voucher – however, hurry, whilst stocks last!
Finally, our Digital Knowledge Exchange is proving to be very popular with businesses – as we received applications from over 300 firms. Over 220 firms were deemed eligible for support under this strand and progressing through the programme.
Finally, why not come along to our second large digital conference event taking place in Harrogate on the 23rd of March – Go Digital Live. You will get a chance to learn about all the different strands and support we can offer to businesses under Digital Enterprise and also, we will have industry experts delivering workshops on a range of digital themes and topics.
